It is an indisputable fact that motherhood is physically, emotionally, and mentally challenging. One helpful tool for managing the stresses of motherhood is a crafty hobby, such as knitting or crochet. Yarn crafting has been scientifically found to reduce stress and anxiety, improve cognitive function, boost self confidence, combat depression, and give us a sense of control.
I began developing my skills in knitting and crochet fourteen years ago during a particularly difficult period when my seventh child was an infant. It lowered my stress, gave my mind something positive to focus on, and helped me feel a sense of control and accomplishment when so many other situations in my life were out of my hands. For me, yarn crafting was a lifesaver, and the joy I felt from giving my handmades to my children and loved ones was immense.
Because of their great benefits, I consider the teaching of knitting and crochet to other women an important part of my mission. While I am available for one-on-one private lessons and project mentoring, I also plan on holding group classes periodically.
